Are you addicted to anything?
Are you NOT addicted to anything, is more like it.
Aren’t we all addicted to something?
Even my ex-mother-in-law, who was as pious and church-going as they come drank 4-5 diet cokes daily.
We all have something. Most of us.
Booze, nicotine, weed, xanax, sex, gambling.
Or even things like news, social media, or our phones.
And I ain’t judgin’. No, I’m right there with you. I identify more with recovering addicts than I do with people who claim to have no addictions.
There are some things I can pick up and put down. There are many things I cannot.
As of May 11, 2022 I will have completed one year with no nicotine. The last time I can say I did that was around 1987.
I have also not had alcohol in almost a month. The last time I did that was in the early 90s.
I don’t care if you are a raging addict or someone who just can’t stop checking their insta. We’re all addicted to something, and we can all relate.
And I’m really not judging you. Nor do I expect to be judged. Because my addictions are probably not going to land me in jail or dead, where as some addictions are far more serious and dangerous.
Doesn’t matter.
What matters is we can learn to cope.
Everything is a choice. And the choice to NOT do something can teach you a lot about yourself.
