Have you ever been to a big concert and had one of those ‘connected’ moments where you feel like everyone is having the same experience in the same moment? The energy is palpable and you almost levitate in place with the energy of the sounds, the heat, the FEELING. . . .
I think most of us have had a moment like this. Of being part of the same thing.
In the past few years of somatic therapy work, I have started to believe this feeling is available to us at all times. Because it’s happening all the time.
We are all connected. Not just to each other, but to the very building blocks of the universe.
I think of the big bang as being the source of all the particles and molecules (but we’ll never really know, right?). These particles and molecules are neither created (again, anyway) nor destroyed – they just change forms. So every water molecule, the hydrogens and the oxygen, have pretty much been everywhere on Earth. And all of these particles just keep rearranging. We exhale and some of that carbon in the CO2 is taken up by a plant and becomes corn. The corn is eaten and now part of US is in SOMEONE ELSE. Connection. And there’s a trillion more examples.
I hope you enjoy this flashback and find your own way to remember our connections.
And maybe even let that influence how you interact with the next person you see.
