Mind control – not in the sense of someone controlling YOUR mind (hello, YouTube) but in the sense of YOU ‘controlling’ your own mind.
And I use the term control very loosely. I do not like the connotation that we rule over our minds like some overlord. I think Mind Control is more like finding an opportunity for yourself to recognize what is going on with your mind.
First things first. I think the ‘mind’ is basically your brain as influenced by your uniqueness. Probably the mind is arrived at through a combination of nature (your DNA) and nurture (your environment).
Your mind is kind of like the part of your ‘self‘ and your ‘soul‘ that is housed in your brain. With respect to your soul and self I also think parts of those lie outside your brain in other parts of your body. You can refer to those Episodes for more on those elements.
Suffice it to say, your mind is part of you in more of a personality sense and not just a piece of gray matter.
The basic concept of this episode is how we practice all of techniques like Meditation, Awareness, Mindfulness, Yoga, Journaling, etc. in order to have some semblance of ‘control’ (again, not in the overlord sense but in the basic ability sense). With this control we can make a choice about what happens in our minds and our brains.
In short, Mind Control, is something you can learn and it gives you a shot at choosing how you react to things in your life.
And there’s HUGE power in that choice.
