“The One Thing You Can Bet on is that Things Will Change” Preview KEW Episode 100: The Evolution Paradox

Do you believe in Evolution?

What if I told you that all Evolution says is that ‘things change’?

Can you argue with that? Kind of hard to argue. Because things change.

Not much is true or guaranteed in life. See my first Episode on Facts for a thorough analysis of that tenet. But one thing you can bet on is that things change.

And I’ve always wondered why people resist the Theory of Evolution when all it is saying is that life on Earth has changed.

And this Episode, which is one of the two fundamental issues I will fully develop in my book and in the next 100 Episodes on KEW, is about Change.

I am going to test the theory that much of human suffering is a result of our resistance to change.

Supposedly it was Carl Jung who first said, “What you resist, persists”. It has been repeated by many psychotherapists, and I tend to believe it. Change is coming, yet we try to avoid or even terminate it. And right now, at this point of human evolution, in a very global sense, I think humans are resisting the hell out of change.

Anti-aging creams, insurance, weather forecasting, planning, control, etc, etc. We are surrounded by our attempts to reduce change and enhance conformity. It’s as if the entire human race is conspiring to make us all the same. Or at the very least to reduce as much diversity as possible.

One religion. One skin color. Hell, one gender! Aren’t the people (white people) in power basically colluding to get rid of anyone who isn’t like them? Or at least to control those other people?

Maybe that’s a bit too conspiracy-theory for you, but if you’re going to get behind a conspiracy theory, that’s a pretty good one.

The Evolution Paradox points out that Change is the great truth of the world, yet humans are fighting hard against change. I believe this creates excessive suffering, is the cause of most of the worlds’ problems, and that learning to (re)embrace change is the key to getting ourselves and our planet back on track.
